Sandakan
I went to Sandakan the other day for vid shooting at the St Micheal Church's on Anzac Eve Day for a service dedication for the friendship windows. For more, read here. I thought after finishing the job, we could go jalan2 around Sdk. Turns out, *sighs* ... newyz, not much shots I took but can do lah.. :p was soo mesmerized by the architecture of the church as I never saw anything like dat in Sabah.
It was also a challenge for me to take some shots inside the church as I have no speedlite or flash. One little church with bad lightings. Let see how many angles can u take. Hee. And how creative u can get. :p

Church Entrance

This is how the church looks

At the north side of the church, there's this rock standing but no one took notice

This was written at the rock.. 2038.. Damn, that long?? I'll be old by then.. hahaha
Let's go inside :p

This church existed since the WW2, but it still in a good condition. The people here really did a good job maintaining it

I think this is the 1st windows that was originally here.. I think laa.. cuz the design & the color is different from the other windows

The windows which was sponsored by the Australian back in 2005

Windows which were installed just recently.. This thing cost RM300k.. imagine that! But I like this.. This is what I called art

There are 2 version of this book. One for display, one is for archive

This one is for display and people to browse at it

This one is for archive was stored at glass shelf which can last up to 500 years.

One corner of the church that displays mementos of the Australians Navy & Air Force.. All these is part of display for history

Evry year Australians & English people came here to commemorate this event. Most of them donated a lot of money for the windows and some came to honor their ancestor who were in the Sandakan Death March years ago.

I love this.. During the evening, when the sun shine thru the window, u can see the reflection which was made by the glass.. Beautiful isn't it?
well.. that's all.. Hee..
One of the reason I love Sandakan, is bcoz of the seafood. Damn, they have the most fresh clamps, crabs & prawns. And the prawns is soo big! During my stay there, I got Konlou prawn for breakfast, Prawn mee for lunch and butter or nestum prawn for dinner.. ahahaha.. seriously..
There's this floating restaurant which was out of town, the location of this restaurant was a bit weird i must say.. cuz it was situated in a middle of people's home.. A village to be exact with most of them are Chinese

U need to pass here

and here to reach to the shop

and nex to it is a fish shop where u can buy the fish here and asked the restaurant to cook it..

The restaurant is quite famous here with their specialty in prawns

and u can get this view! well.. it has beautiful view but my prawn mee arrived so I didnt took that many pics.. :p

yums...

see how big that is!!

This is the restaurant specialty.. Prawn's ball served with delicious soup.. err w8.. balls?? That didnt sound right.. hmm.. yups.. I think that was the name.. hahahah

At nite time, went to Ocean King

U can get this!! I love this! Very tasty indeed!

They have the best butter & nestum prawns..

Nice pics D! Did a great job even without speedlite. Haven't been to Sandakan for a longlong time now, even tho I lived there for almost 6years! I used to go to school at St Mary's Convent which is located very close to St Michael's. They also have sort of like a courtyard there where we used to have our karate lessons. Hmmm memories I can still remember oh so vividly!
Never had seafood in Sandakan tho, altho I heard it's cheap! Must try. Is that floating restaurant at Buli Sim Sim?
